7 Ingredient Bunless Burger
Ingredients:
1/2 tbsp butter
4oz sliced New York Strip Steak
1 slice of sharp cheddar
2 basil leaves
Heinz Ketchup
Salt
Pepper
Steps:
Salt and pepper the sliced meat. If you’re like me, I’ll remove the part where it is too chewy.
In a pan heat butter, and sear the meat both sides. This should take around 1 - 2 minutes top at high heat.
Put a slice of sharp cheddar on top and close the lid of the pan. This will allow the cheddar to melt into the meat.
Serve the cooked meat with basil, extra pepper, and ketchup. If you are fancy you can also add some pickles, tbsp of chopped sweet onion (cooked or raw both are great!).
Story Time:
This dish came about because I was reading these instagrams. They showed the power of plating and how any plain food can basically become fine dining - it’s all about perspective. This is my attempt to be a tad bit obnoxious. I learned that it’s all about shape arrangements and showing where things could stand out. There are more plating techniques for me to learn. If you look at these instagrams, you’d realize that my plating level is just at #2 of their steps. I am working hard to be perfect at plating step 2 so that step 3 and 4 will become the new difficult for me.
Also, the reason I created this dish was because I wanted junk food that wasn’t too junk for me. I wanted to be able to control the fat and the calorie intake because my trip in Japan had too much food that I gained 3 pounds. It’s insane!
This dish is only 440~ calories!
